“Project 739”: Serenissima Ristorazione for the social inclusion of people with disabilities

In the constant search to promote inclusion and improve the quality of life of people with disabilities, ULSS Berica, in collaboration with Very serene restaurant, Caritas, Legambiente and the Circolo Noi San Lazzaro, recently presented the "739 Project". This is an initiative aimed at creating an innovative model of activity to promote the social inclusion of people with disabilities, opening new doors to their well-being and autonomy.

The project is focused on creating work experiences that allow people with disabilities to integrate into society in new and meaningful ways, going beyond the traditional day center model. The main objective is to improve personal skills, individual autonomy and the quality of life of the people involved: the promotion of a practical approach allows integration into the local community, making use of available resources and infrastructure. A key element of the project is the public-private partnership between institutions, third sector organisations, companies such as Very serene restaurant and local realities. The “739 Project” is based on a question and response mechanism, in which the needs of the community meet the solutions offered by the task force of the 739 group. This approach is inspired by the principles of the legislative decree 739/2015, from which the project takes its name, which aims to develop an experimental model of socio-health services within educational or employment paths external to traditional day centres. The initiative is aimed at adults with medium-mild disabilities who are independent when traveling by public transport and have the potential to develop work and social interaction skills, even if they are not yet ready for the traditional world of work. The project has already started with the first 5 participants, while the final goal is to involve up to 10 people. Although not all participants can complete the entire journey, the initiative represents a significant turning point in the social integration of people with disabilities, offering them the opportunity to experience a highly effective model of inclusion within the local community.

ULSS Berica is the leader of the "739 Project", with the active collaboration of Very serene restaurant, Caritas, Legambiente and the Circolo Noi San Lazzaro. “Generally – explained the Director of Social Services Achille Di Falco – these initiatives are activated by the private social sector. The fact that there is a social health company represents an important innovation. This experience will also be able to bring added value to other disability services managed by the Ulss, because if the 739 project was born as an overcoming of the concept of day centres, it is also true that with these residences there will be a continuous exchange of projects and programs".
